I have changed the pistons to a e6 mack piston and used a jdeere rod.my problem is that the piston is hitting the conter weight on the crank.
Is there another piston that would match these sizes.need help asap.

I don"t have a definite answer for you but I am also building this Oliver 1800 pulling tractor using the 478 hercules. Mine just has the stock bore so far.

I know of a guy that took the sleeves out and ran minneapolis 4 3/4" pistons right in the block. He also used John deere rods. I was going to put John deere 4 3/4 pistons in mine but the with the stock rod, the piston does not come up far enough in the bore. I never got around to experimenting with different rods.

What size are the mack pistons?

Do you have any pictures of your tractor?

Why can't you shorten or notch the piston skirt? How much interference is there?
