hey guys I'm not too familiar with oliver tractors, I've got the opportunity to buy a 1951 creeper, it's a gas 4 cyl. about 20 hp. Very well maintained 48 inch wide tracks, new hydraulic lines allround, new axles and berrings. Are there any specific problems to look for. the owner is asking 4200, I'm figuring 3800, any input would be grat, thanks in advance.

Oliver creeper what? in reply to ron algiere, 03-23-2006 16:15:50
Am I missing something here? Oliver creeper what?
You mention tracks and 1951 so I assume a crawler?
HGs and OC3s were both made in 1951, and both have around 22 horsepower with a standard-bore IXB3 Hercules engine. If that's what you have, and the creeper is original, it's a 1920s Ford Model A car transmission, made into a kit by Trasco (Tractor Specialties in California) and authorized by Oliver. Just that kit without the crawler tends to sell for $1000 used. I've built a few, and a friend of mine tends to buy up the original kits whenver he can - and for some reason, stockpiles them. Many aspects of the original kit design do not make sense to me and makes the conversion difficult to work on.

It is a OC3 I took a better look at it. It has a few non OEM mods on it but nothing that can't be easily corected by a hardcore restorer. it's got a few very minor leaks but it does run and operate very smooth, Thanks for the input
