Getting around to painting my 53 66 and was wondering what the correct color is for the front and rear hubs. I have seen them both red and green. I assume that the hubs got painted green with the rest of the tractor on the assembly line?
Thanks in advance.

Just asking a dumb question but since you are working on a 53 model I would guess it has the large hubs. I just had a chance to look at an early 54 that is still original. I can look again next week. J.

Not sure if they are considered the large hubs, but they are 6 bolt with a 6" center. Only Oliver I have had so I cant compare to others.

The front and rear hubs should have been painted green on the assembly line before the wheels were put on, but a good friend of mine (a retired Oliver engineer) restored an Oliver 77. He found only red paint on the front hubs, so he painted them red. This was a tricycle front end.

You will not find universal agreement on this question! If you use a sander to go to bare metal there will probably be some original color, providing there has not been previous total disassembly and blasting.

In the parts book will be a serial # break for green headlites that occured approx. late 1952. Black headlites equals green axles and hubs. Green lites equals red axles and hubs.
