i am using super 77 valves in a 77 head. they came with super 77 springs. right now with these valves cut in the springs are to close to coil bind to shim.the valves cam and head need to work together .the cam grinder said i should find valves with more spring pressure. stock are close to 40 pounds he wants to see 80 thks.

I removed a head from 88 and put stock head back on so guy could farm with tractor modified head had chevy valves and double springs . it was very hard on stock push rods . I think just the one Spring might be ok. and it is much stiffer than oliver spring.

I am running Big necked down S.S. Small block chevy valves in my 77.I was running into float at 2300 rpms.I added 2 bronze spring spacer washers per valve to the stock springs. Most machine shops have them in stock.Don"t know what pressure it"s at.But it tookcare of the float.

Just a guess here but if your useing S77 valves wouldn't springs from the S77 also work, or maybe even springs from a 770. But as I said just a guess

You can usualy shim springs with machinery washers a fair bit before you get coil bind.Meausure the lift of your cam,Meausure and work out the rocker ratio do some math and this will give you what the compressed height of spring will be. Not sure if this will give you enuff for your application but works good on most stock motors to bring spring pressure within specs, or even higher.
