I have a 1600 oliver as soon as you start it it turns hard to the left and will not steer back. Before you had to constantly turn the wheel to drive it ,but i do not think that is uncommon.do i need to replace/rebuild the sector? Any advice would be appreciated. thank you Alan Garrison

I got a 1600 with steering trouble too but it's the hub shaft and steering column thats bad. AS far you your problem is concerned your pump under the steering wheel is bad. You can't get a replacement pump that just bolts back up anymore but there are 2 ways to fix the problem. The cheapest fix is to buy a Char Lynn pump and stub shaft that will fit inside your old pump housing. It takes some work but can be done for around $300. The other fix is to buy a replacement kit that does bolt up with some minor changes for around $800. You can find that on a site called Abilene... (Tractor, or Supply, or something like that). I can find the web sites if you need me to. You could also look for an answer at Larry Harsin's web site.
