i have found an old oliver tractor and need to find oul anything and everything about it. the engine has the date 3-18-48. i cannot find the id plate on it. it has a spread front end and has been used as a farm tractor in the past. i have put a battery in it and gas in it and hand started it. i have moved it back and forth a few feet, so it does operate.

Try locating the identification plate on the right side of the transmission/final drive housing just in front of the right brake housing, the right side identified as an operator is seated on the tractor. The serial number will allow us to help you immensely. If you still can't find the plate, then tell us other pertinent information such as number of cylinders, row crop or standard configuration, etc. Sounds like an interesting find. You might also include the engine serial number which may be on the motor's right side, extreme rear on the bell housing mating flange of the engine block.
