That combine is the same one that sold in Janesville. It sold with both heads. Grain table was good, but the 2 row corn head needed alot of work. Very Very nice combine. The unit brought around $3000-$3500 at the auction. The ebay auction says: "I am downsizing my rare Oliver collection." Yeah whatever. If he was downsizing. Why did he buy it a month ago?

The ebay auction should say: "I am looking for a sucker to buy this combine for $15,000 so I can make $12,000 profit in a 4 week period"

The guy is forgetting the other side of the supply and demand equation- sure, that may be one of the nicest of that model still around, but there is no demand to support that price. There aren't many '48 Plymouths around either, but they're still cheap because nobody wants one.

Just what is so pricey about the 525? There is one junked out a few miles from me that is complete. If they are worth their weight in gold, maybe I ought to give him $100 and take it off his hands. ;-)

There WAS (is?) an Oliver combine in Oklahoma near in reply to 730virgil, 03-14-2006 20:38:11
I think the eBay combine's price is way too high. And THAT price is the minimum. No way would I pay that much for an Oliver combine in that condition. It's nice, but not THAT nice.

I know where there WAS an Oliver combine sitting on the side of the highway back in 2001. Who knows..... It may STILL be there. It looked a lot like this combine on eBay, but it had a cab. It was in 'well-worn' condition, but I bet it could be easily restored.

To get to its resting place, take US 77 south out of Joplin, Missouri to US 60. Go west on US 60 to US 69 in Oklahoma. Go south on US 69 a few miles, maybe even ten miles. The combine was sitting at a small farm on the right. Maybe it's still there, and maybe it's not. It'd be worth a look to anyone who lives around Joplin. I'm not 100% sure of the distance from US 60. If anyone goes hunting for it, go as many as 20 miles before stopping and asking somebody where it may be. I bet the engine alone would make it worth getting.
