will oil work its way out of the inputshaft when running, on a 77 if you leave the pto shaft out? or do you have to plug the shaft? thanks

Here is what the manual says:

If the tractor is to be operated witout a power take off and it is equipped with a Hydra-Lectric or Hydarulic control unit, remove the bull gear cover and incstall a hydraulic pump dirve shaft locking it in place with a snap ring. Install the bull gear cover and install a power take off opening cover and gasket to seal the power take off opening in the rear main frame.
