We were just wondering if there is a factory replacement, or factory re-power from AGCO for the 55 series Olivers with the turbocharged 310 Waukeshaw diesels? We know that the Cummins will fit in there, but we want to know is there, or has there ever been a factory re-power offered from Oliver, White, or AGCO for these tractor and what engine it is. Thanks again for your time guys.

FWIW, I think-repeat,think-a posting on one of the main tractor sites mentioned there was some kind of update package to cure the 310 problem(s)...but I don"t think it went into any details, altho I assume it"d be some kind of rebuild kit...personally, I know nothing about the 310, so I have no idea whether any such kit/package would be any good...just mentioned it in case it"s helpful...

Hello!
Yes, White Motor Corporation offered a replacement engine during the mid-1970's. They offered a BRAND-NEW Waukesha VRD310S with External, Plate Type oil cooler, such as was used in the 1955's. This was offered for around $2400.00 plus labor. White actually went out of their way on this campaign. They bore a lot of the expense, in order to keep the customers from trading their 1855's for other brands. The dealerships also did a great job, in order to keep the farmers as customers. The VRD310 did a good job, up to 100 horses. I wish that White/Oliver could have offered the Perkins, or a Caterpillar engine in the 1755-1955 Series. Best wishes!

White and Agco never offered the repower as a factory option. I was told that this was due to liability in that they would have to offer to the farmer a repower at their expence. This was due to the fact that it would be construed as an admission of a bad engine and they would be forced into recalling the waukesha. I do know that the tech services did help in the orignal repower.

I was told White didn't do a good job satisfying customers so alot of them told White to pi$$ off and bought other brands, which is too bad ,they had an otherwise nice tractor in the 55 series. The silver paint also hurt sales, that was a management decision, they thought silver was prestigious, farmers wanted the colors they were loyal to.
