I am not a restorer yet. I have a 1755 Diesel(Waukesha) that is leaking oil from left exhaust manifold and up through muffler. Is it most likely a head gasket? If so, how hard is it to replace? Should I get one of the $60 service manuals?

Any Diesel engine that is operated under very low load will not build up enough combustion Chamber temperture to completely burn the heavy ends of the diesel fuel. What you are seeing is non atomized heavy ends of fuel coming out of the exhaust system. Be sure the thermostat in the cooling system is working properly.
Put the engine under heavy load for a while and the problem will clear up until it is operated under very light load again.
When I was a young man on the farm, we had a hay baler that had an engine on it. Occasionaly we had to use the diesel tractor on it and it would do what your tractor is doing. Put the tractor on a plow or disc and it cleared up.

Boy, if that is all that it is that is a huge relief. I will try to load it when the weather breaks. Thank you
