I have a 1968 2150 Oliver MFWA in need of a new hydraulic pump. Imagine that! We've ran Olivers on our farm for the last 40 years and I've been told the hydraulic pumps have always been their weakest link aside from powering the smaller ones with the Waukisha engine. My question is where can I get the best deal on a new pump, about how much should I expect it to cost and what is the easiest way to change it out. I've changed it once before taking out the floor panels and pulling the entire unit off of the differential housing but since its a 3 pt unit (the filter is between the driver's feet) I was wondering if I could get to it by just taking the upper part of the unit off. Any helpful advice would sure be appreciated.

Don't buy a rebuilt pump. They don't last. Like was said you have to remove the entire unit. No other way. It took me about 6 hrs to do our 1950-T which I got pretty good at when we were using it hard. I don't know where the best deal on a pump is. While you have the unit off I would suggest changing the needle berrings on the pump drive gear I usially found those to be loose. If you use it hard I would try and add a additional oil cooler. I figure this was the cause of most of our failiers just never could convence dad to spend alittle extra to add the extra cooler. We would pull 6,000# 12 row cultivators 16 hrs a day every day it was fit for 2 months most days if I put my feet on the unit it would melt my boots. Good luck

Same as the one you did before - remove entire unit from rear housing and you'll find the pump at the bottom. You'll find a shop manual as AB mentions invaluable as a step-by-step for removal, disassembly, and reassembly to get everything back together. Replacement pump cost approx. $350. I've yet to find a hydraulic system that isn't or cannot be problematic. I would say that Oliver made some great innovations in hydraulic systems, and had a few design areas on some models that could be problematic without attention, but no worse than anyone else. And as for the Oliver-Waukesha engine (remember an Oliver Waukesha engine is not the same as a Waukesha), I'm a fan! Good luck with the project.

Do you have a shop manual for it? Might make the job alot easier. They are occasionally on Ebay or you can try Floyd County museum for manuals. As for the pump here's a few places you can compare prices: Farmersville 717-354-2150, Maibach 330-939-4192, O'Brien 712-324-4871, Jansen 618-595-2962, Agpartsfirst 1-866-246-9720. We've never had many problems with our hydraulics, I believe they were a lot better than IH.
