Can anyone tell me whether the "155,232,265,283 and 310" Wauk engines listed for Olivers are the VRD/VRG Wauk engines of the same CI???? My binder just sez: "Waukesha Engines and Gensets". Many thxx for any help.

JS & Ed: many thxx for your replies...but I'm still not completely illuminated here...when you say "...Oliver engines...not always the same..." I assume you mean they were never the same, in your experience; that the Oliver Wauks were a completely separate set of engines (while my binder sez "gensets", I have no way to tell if it original or just used by someone (with these manuals) because it was handy). No comments necessary if above assumption correct, and, again, many thxx.
PS: Incidentally, I am not the "Clueless In Seattle" or the "Clueless Operator" who formerly posted on this site; when I picked a "handle" I had no idea it had been formerly used, and my apologies to anyone who may've cofused us.

You guys need to remember Waukesha was and still is for large engines only an engine manufacture. Oliver was a customer. That means that the Oliver engine was not always the same as the engine Waukesha sold even though the engine was of the same displacement. One of the people on here showed me a head gasket one time. His question was what Oliver does it fit. It didn't It was for a Waukesha application even though the Oliver engine was of the same bore and stroke. Questions.

Apparently most of the tractor companies that bought outside engines had them "specked" for their particular application, so there were differences. I have a Cockshutt 35 with the original Hercules GO 198 engine, and a neighbor who is a well driller gave me a GO 198 (of about the same age as mine) that he took out of a drilling rig and had no further use for. Many differences between the two- governor, carburetor, manifold, oil filter and system, etc., but the blocks appear to be the same.

Mike-WA: many thxx for reply...it seems some engine models were radically changed for different uses, and some had only minor changes for different uses. I have an FC parts book showing both magneto and distributor types, and apparently four different water pumps, while the basic block seems to be the same (at least per research on other sites). Again, thxx to all for replies.
