I also started my 1600 this Staurday to bring it into a hheated garage to work on it. It didn't want to start until about 3:00, same thing with our other gasser (massey 165). Once I did get it started, I had to hold in the clutch for a while because with it being so cold outside the gear lube was like tar. After a while I could let it run w/ slight choke and the clutch out. Are you saying the engine throttles up when you push it in? Sounds like the the cold heavy gear lube is pulling the engine down some and then when you push it in, the engine takes off because of no load. My 1600 actually wanted to move some when I let the clutch out, but it didn't go anywhere.

50 PSI in this cold weather is normal. Once it warms up I'll bet it drops down to where it normally runs. My Truck had some really high oil press on Saturday too, just part of living in Wisconsin.

Well, in reverse order, here goes: 50 psi is not bad. 100+ would raise some eyebrows but 50 is nothing to worry about. Sounds like when you press on the clutch, the governor was acting up. Frozen perhaps? I would bet that when it warms up, all will be well. As far as the engine quitting, sounds like moisture in the fuel or gelling of the fuel. Or is this a gasoline motor? Still sounds like moisture in the fuel. I"m sure other people will give their opinions also.....

MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE THE CAP LOCKS OFF AND USE SOME PUNCTUATION TOO IT IS HARD TO READ ANY OF YOUR POST WITH THAT SAID IS YOUR TRACTOR A GAS OR DIESEL WE ARE IN NEED OF SOME MORE INFORMATION HERE BUT SERIOSLY, SHUT OFF THOSE CAPS LOCKS, its hard to figure out anything you are saying, and frankly, it makes you look novice to a computer.
