I AM aware of the several aftermarket loaders that will fit my 1855. What I want to know is what about original ones from the dealer or ones I might find at a sale? I saw an ad for a Oliver 1610 loader (I guess I have heard that was made by Schwartz?. Sounds like that may be on the small side, but I'm trying to keep my options open as I start looking for a loader, new or used. Someone mentioned an Oliver 1710 loader, but can't find any info on that.

Thanks..

A friend of mine has a quick detach loader from a 1800 gas that he is looking to sell. It is all straight and the cylinders are good. All it needs is paint. Email me if interested.

We have a Schwartz 1500 loader - off of a White 2-105. It should have the same mounts and bolt right on. The loader is in excellent condition. I also have a Oliver 1750 for sale if anyone is interested.

I'd say that you got some good advice on this one. Make sure you get a loader that is heavy enough for your tractor. Unless you are lucky enough to find a used loader with brackets to fit your tractor, you are going to need to have some welding and fabrication skills or be able to hire someone with those skills. You could have quite a few $$$ tied up in getting an old loader to work. If the used loader is in less than very good condition and doesn't come with a good bucket, you will need to get it really cheap to make it worth the while.

We have a 1610 loader we bought new in 75. We originally put it on an 1850 with short wheel base. In 76 we put it on 5600 ford and it has rarely been off since new. Have had little trouble with it but it has been used hard doing whatever needed doing. It is not a quick attach loader so you have to leave frame on when the boom is dropped. I personally like it better than the swartz quick attach they made at the same time, we have one on a ford also. TC

I have an older Westendorf WL40 on my 1800. I found mine on Iron Classifieds and was fortunate that it came off an Oliver so the mounts worked fine for me. Even though it is older, it is in really good shape, and has handled everything I've thrown at it. Like PaMike said, make sure the loader you buy is for a wide-front tractor. There are many options out there, both new and used. I'm partial to Westendorf and would have liked a new one but they start at $6000 and go up from there. With the size of your tractor, I think you need a fairly heady duty loader otherwise you could easily break the welds and/or twist the frame/bucket with the power of your tractor. I was fortunate in that my used loader came off another Oliver so the mounts fit on mine with no fabrication. If you decide to buy used and aren't so fortunate, you can add another $1000 to the price of the loader for new mounts. Although, most of the time used loaders come with mounts and if you have welding/fabrication skills you could adapt it to your 1855 for very little money. The last think to consider is hydraulics. Is you tractor already setup? I had to buy a new griesen valve for @ $500.00 and figure out how to do the 'power beyond' plumbing. You can search on this website for 'power beyond' and find the instructions. The other option is a PTO pump. Loaders are great things, but make sure you really need one and not just want one. The price tag can get high in a hurry. Good luck in your search.

I have a White 1730 QA (Quick Attach) on my 1755. I havent found much information on it. They dont seam to be very comman in my area. Its a nice loader, and up for anything I throw at it. I think Don-Wis had a 1610 loader on a 55 series. Maybe he will post. If you have some fabrication skills it isnt all that hard to adapt a loader to your tractor, if it is generally the correct width.

Nope, we had an Allis Chalmer loader on our 1755, an now it's retro fitted onto our 165 Massey. Just blew a line on it tonight too..... .

With some fab work, any loader can fit. I've seen this same loader on an Allis D-14 I think, with a smaller bucket on it.

I blew the hose while I was moving the manure pile, 1st bucket in. I got it fixed last night before the snow hit, so all wasn't too bad considering... We had 10.8" a couple hours ago, I'd guess we're over 1' by now.

I can't remember the last time we had anything over 6", but we really needed it bad.
