Have an opportunity to purchase one of these tractors. It's complete but has not run in 10+ years. What would it be worth, I'm likely just going to resell the tractor on the site if I can purchase it. Is there much demand for these models.

Thanks guys,
Todd

I"ve posted this awhile back, but here goes again. I have a neighbor who has a huge MM collection, including a UDLX in good shape. Talking to him, he says this tractor has a lot of problems, ESPECIALLY if it has a turbo. Propane models are better than the diesel models, but not by much. His advice: Buy one to collect or to sell, but not to farm with. He has at least 6 or 8 that he has purchased as parts tractors to make a complete model. He claims it is tempting to pay WAY more than what they are really worth. My $.02 worth.

We just brought one back from Canada. It is an A4T 1400 with a 504 diesel with altitude compensator. The colors are red and white and it's a good runner and handles just fine. No doubt some progress has been made in the design of diesel farm tractors in the 37 years since this was made. I think it compares very favorably against other 4WD tractors of that era.

I agree with Kruse on this. Your dealing with a cumbersome Minneapolis Moline tractor, painted green. Its mearly a collectors item, and as Kruse said as well, they got issues. Pry its paint is what makes the desireable, and thats about all.

Your Plainsman is not green in color. Now What I am trying to remember is were both the A4T-1400 and the A4T-1600 produced with the Plainsman paint. Around here it took a seperate contract to sell these tractors.

J Schwiebert is right, the Oliver 2655 was green. The Plainsman was red, white & blue.John, I believe the A4T-1400 was as well, because they dubbed it "BIG RED" ~brad

bradk: we sold 2 of those A4T-1400 tractors, one might be around yet. They were red and white, no blue but they were very early ones.

J Schwiebert,
OK,just the "PLAINSMAN" decals, horizontal stripes on hood, door & rear fenders, and front hood emblem backround were blue. But, they were advertised as a red, white,& blue "heritage" tractor. Is that A4T-1400 still being woked in your area?~brad
