Ok, I took out the smap ring and the plug from the PTO drive shaft and tried to pull the drive shaft from the tractor. However, it is hitting something and won't come out.

I can pull it out about 8 inches then it hits something. The PTO lever is disengaged. Any suggestions?

Jim

Wrenchbender was correct! I didn't have the O-ring out. Once I removed it the shaft slid right out.

Jim,
Push the shaft all the way in to home position, and turn slightly.Pull shaft out again, and keep trying,It'll come out. There are a series of splines that need to line up.~brad

Did you take out the O-ring?

I think so. I can pull the shaft so that it sticks out the rear of the housing about 8 inches.

Sounds like your stuck on the O ring, I had this problem just a few weeks ago.... It could be hard to see it now if the splines but thru it.
