Alright ya'll, I have the Gemmer steering box loose and took off the fan but it appears I have to take the pulley off the crank. So unless there is a secret way of turning that thing how do I remove the pulley?

JS is correct as usual. The Gemmer will come off without the removal of the pulley. You just need to rotate the unit once the hoses and link assy are off. Gently lift right off and tap out the tapers prior carefully. Then you are home free.

First of do you have the unit loose from the tapered splined shaft? What we used to do is unhook the two hoses from the valve body. There are 3 bolts that hold the valve body to the unit (5/16 inch cap screws) {bolts}. Remove those three cap screws (bolts). The valve is then attached to the link going into the unit which is inside the little elbow. All that holds is on then is an O-ring. Twist and pull and it should pop off. Questions?

Hi John,

I was thinking he wouldn't need to remove the crankshaft pulley. Did'nt on the 880 not unless its stuck on the pitman shaft?

Mike he said he is working on an 1800. So it is an A or B series and it will most likely have an extra groove for another belt in the crank pulley. I don't remember if the distance from the back of the pulley to the first groove is longer than on an 880 either. 40 years ago you just did the work and didn't work about that stuff.

John,
Wasn"t sure of what Model he was working on.
Kind sounds like it might be a pain on the 1800?
Thanks Mike
