How do you adjust PTO Clutch on Super 55?

To adjust the clutch, stop the engine and release the power take-off clutch by pushing the clutch control lever forward. Remove the metal hand hole cover from under the tractor center frame (small plate with four cap screws just about in line with the ends of the steering arms). Reach through the hand hole and rotate the power take off clutch assemby until the adjusting ring lock pin is on the bottom side of the assembly(it will look like a threaded ring with notches on the edge for the lock pin to seat into). Take a screw driver, depress the lock pin and rotate the adjusting ring to the next notch. Turn the adjusting ring in a clockwise direction to tighten the clutch or counterclockwise to to loosen the clutch until the clutch is properly adjusted. Then reinstall the hand hole cover. Here is where it gets tricky sounding. The power take-off clutch equiped with the 26 inch long control lever and 5 clutch discs is properly adjucted when a force of about 32 pounds applied to the clutch control lever two feet above the control lever pivot is required to engage the clutch (if you have a spring scale, hook it onto the pto control lever ) or 45 pounds on a 6 disc clutch. On older models having the 16 inch power take-off control lever, a force of 50 pounds is required at the upper end of the lever while pulling back to engage the 5 disc clutch or 67 1/2 punds for the 6 disc clutch.
