Hoping somone on here can shed some light on this question. I have been told that there is a crossflow head for the 354's used on industrial or marine possibly?? Does anyone know what they were on? Can they be fitted to other 354's? Are they hard to find? Thanks for any input on this one!!!!!

I have looked long and hard for a good head for a 354, not to say that there isn"t one out there, but the best i could find was one off the new massey engines. it is a full 12 port heat that has about twice the surface area on the port openings. you would need the injectors, rocker arm, valve cover and manifolds to put it on a older perkins. yes, there may be some cooling issues, but we were running a filled block so it didn"t matter. with big valves and full port work the best we could get was 200 CFM

Could I email you to ask some questions?? What massey motors have the newer head? We're thinking alky motor, no coolant.

First of all what kind of 354 Perkins do you have? Second item I was cleaning today and I found this Perkins parts bulletins and they listed new revised intake manifold gasket set (1978) on a parts bulletin I have. No mention of special sets for marine engines. If you call a Perkins dealer there is a 90% chance the first thing he will ask for is a build number. You may or may not have one. Perkins has used at least 3 different ways of identifing engines. Questions?

354 is from a massey combine, build number unknown. Looking to put crossflow on for pulling. I've heard of guys running them, but cant remember what they came on??

I guessed the pulling part. Also are you awear that some of the 354 heads have more cooling in certain areas? Look by the injection pump and send me the serial number. Also I am trying to remember right at the moment but the Perkins "Phaser" that replaced the 354 is not a cross flow if I remember correctly. I know this is no big deal to a puller but you would need all new fuel lines head studs, etc.

You could check with this company. They sell and service Perkins engines for industrial and marine applications.
