I am considering going to Manitoba to get a bailer at auction. What does it take to bring used ag equipment back across the US border?

A passport (even one that is expired) is better than any other means for proof of citizenship when crossing back into the U.S.!

When you pick a crossing make sure that it is able to handle import/export of machinery. Not all border crossings are equal, some of the smaller crossings are more like regional check points and do not have the infrastructure to handle freight. You might want to check with an import/export service to handle the paper work.

Plan on taking RT.75 to Winnipeg. How should I plan on making the transaction, Cash? Is there any other paper work to bring equipment back. Taxes, Fees, Ect.

As long as you are a US citizen and can produce a government-issued photo ID (ie. a drivers license), you currently DO NOT need a passport to cross the border in either direction.

However if you do have a passport bring it with you - it cannot hurt!

Make sure ALL your other paperwork (vehicle and trailer registration, insurance paperwork, etc.) is with you and is valid. And have sales receipt or titles for everthing you are bringing back into the US.

You will need a photo ID, most states drivers license will do, and you will also need a Passport. If the baler is US built, it shouldn't be any problem as long as you have a sales receipt. I have hauled two US built tractors out of Canada in the past year and have had no problems.
