What is the current part # for the base gasket under the adapter for spin on oil filters. Old cartridge gasket # 166983A, my dealer could not get it to come up. Have a feeling White 2-135 book might shed the light.

all of the 2050 & 2150 tractors were produced in 1968 & 1969. Late in 69 the plant sent crews to the dealerships to check the tractors and install "Product Improvements" as necessary. Part of the Product Improvement was the perforated side panels that you mention. An air deflector was also added at the rear of the engine to deflect the hot air from the engine away from the operator.
Yes, there are numerous improvements made available later. The tractor was very reliable if serviced and not "hot rodded". Power can be increased (increased fuel delivery especially in the 2150) beyond the design of the power train.
Probably of most importance is the fuel system. Do you have the transfer pump bypass installed?

If your asking if I have a bypass on the back side of the injector pump. I would say no. Previous owner had the inj pump rebuilt. He also changed the fuel filters to the later square glass Roosa-Master style. Fuel goes thru sediment bowl to first R-M glass filter goes to inlet side of trans pump back to Secondary R-M glass filter then to front head inlet of Main Model 100 American Bosch pump. After I ordered one gasket PN#40-3892011 for oil pressure relief housing, so I could remove and drill out. I deduct that I have a second plate behind my 166924AS. Should have ordered 2 gaskets. My thinking is that seconded plate my be an anti-drainback check valve. And that the 2 NOS parts that I got at a closing dealers sale being different but having same part# probably at one time were incorporating this anti-drainback valve into this housing base. Also noticed on both Baldwin and Wix site that the spin-ons have anti-drainback incorporated into replacement filters. Do I need or want this additional sandwhich piece. Please explain more on the fuel by-pass or this anti-drain back (I would assume was needed with the org cartridge canister filters).

I don't know where you can get the gasket between the filter base and the adapter. It is just a square cut rubber ring. Perhaps you can find one on a oil filter that will fit.
There is a Service Bulletin on the problem of failure of this gasket (also ruptures of the oil filter). The return passage for bypassed oil from the pressure relief valve was originally too small causing a restriction for bypassed oil during cold weather startups. That restriction causes excessively high pressure at the filter area, you could see the oil presssure guaue "pegged" upon startup.
The oil pressure regulating valve is located just in front of the starter, it should be removed and the lower return passage drilled out to 9/16". If you have a pressure regulator for your shop air reduce the pressure and put air in the oil fill tube to blow out the metal generated during drilling. I would also put grease on the drill bit to help catch the metal. There is also a new part number (same as used on a 2-135 / 2-155) for a thicker gasket between the pressure regulator and crankcase.
I'm sure this will cure your gasket concerns.

BA STAR upon your posting I went and looked at some NOS inventory I bought at a sale about 2 yrs ago and found two 166924AS pressure regulating housing, both marked the same part number but obviously different, one has been cut out (2-step) I think for an anti-drainback device, what is the part numbers for the anti-drainback piece, any spring, and the gasket? Thank you for knowing the real problem.

Any other service bulletin issues come to mind for the 2150, Mine has a high serial number. I think about what the internet age has done for info, pretty easy to find now. Some of the poor ole dealers were just merely surviving back then and I am sure some did not want to drive alongs ways... too bad they did not have this handy tool. One other question was it an option or was it std equipment to have the perforated side panels all the way back to the fuel tank? Mine has these, are said to be factory. My microfishe of course doesn't show, but I do think previous owner was telling the truth that they were factory. Maybe I am wrong.

Just reading this all. When the tractors were introduced we were told to tell any owenrs not to run them above much of an idle speed untill the oil warmed up to prevent that. On your panels, original production did not have them, then changes were made to the radiator (fin spacing) and the revised panels for improved cooling were also part of that change. Original ones did not have spin on oil filteres. Not much experience with the 2150 sold probably 3 2050 tractors for each 2150, I though they were both excellant performers. Questions?

Thanks a million BA Star, I am sure you absolutely correct, upon start up I have extreme pressure and that is when I notice Leaking. I am sure thankful I posted.
