Lee, just curious, did you get the torque specs form the YTMag research page? I don't trust that page. I don't have a manual that has the 99, but I do have the shop manual that covers the 77 as well as several other models. YT has 80 ft lbs. for the 77 without any notaion wether it is HC or deisel. The shop manual has 92-100 for gas, and 112-117 for deisel. Quite a difference.

Super 55,
Values are available in the workshop manual.
104 is quoted there for the 90/99.
With 19(?) studs at 5/8 and fine thread, I would not think there would have been a problem with just a big spanner in those days, as long as all was reasonably even!
Regards, RAB

most 99's had a couple weights on the inside of the frame in front of the motor behind the radiator..one each side..loose those..make hubs to fit pressed steel wheels on rear.... take off the belt pully and the heavy cast iron piece over the clutch housing and fabricate one out of sheet metal...that will be a great start without to much money..used to be one running the pulling circuit with a 10-20 farmall front axle and spoked wheels under it..saved a bunch over stock

I think I need to loose about 400 pounds to get it below 7000 pounds. My 99 has the cast hubs front and rear. It also has all the lights (they work), grill cover including canvas screen, upgraded seat and all side covers. So there's a lot of things I could remove but I don't want screw up the best original 99 I have ever seen. I want loose the weight in the most inconspicuous way to keep the tractor as original as possible. My 99 does not have the belt pulley so I was wondering if I could remove all the gears to the belt pulley. I'm aware of the two weights up front but I was told they could not be removed without pulling the engine. I would also prefer to shed weight from the rear of the tractor. So the cover idea might be really good. If I could get a set of spoke rear wheels I think that would be best. I know I can get it down to 7000 pounds it's just a matter of deciding the best way to do it. Thanks for your suggestions.

How light are you trying to get, my son pull's mine in the 6000 up to 7500. We are running 18.4x 38's on the rear. The wheels are F&H spoke wheels that we put 38" rims on. I also have a pair of hubs for the regular 9 hole steel wheels. I think these hub's weigh around 35 lbs each.
