we put a 400 pontiac in an 88 yrs ago with a 400 turbo hydro automatic and a vega torque converter to get rpms up for pulling..did a nice job but 460 fords and 454 chevys had more..wasnt to hard but had to extend the frame some..automatics multiply torque so that would offset the rpm range diff some and easier to take off..there was a guy in our club who pulled a 44 massey with a 3 spd manual tranny and was always smoking clutches because it was to hard to get started in a fast enough gear with a load on it without slipping the clutch a lot...i do have a 40 cockshutt with a 230 chevy 6 cylinder in it that runs and pulls fine...redrilled tractor flywheel to chevy crank..machined an adapter plate to bolt chevy block to tractor bellhousing and made front motor mount...runs factory hydraulics..pto..clutch..all with belt driven governer just fine

See V-8 antique pulling tractors on the pulling forum.

Farm tractors use torque not RPM. The 350 makes good power 2000 RPM up. The original motors wer 16-1900RPM. You can run an auto trans in front of the regular gearbox to get the speeds right. But be aware you will have a 250HP nose heavy tractor that will happily spin 18 inch tires instead of a 50HO torque pulling beast.

As a toy, it will be great. As a tractor, worthless. Much better to put a 292 6cy in.

put a 327 in a 1650 once. tractor wont handle the power but more importantly wont handle the rpm, youll throw everything apart, pto and pumps arnt made to turn 5000 rpm, but gives the neighbors something to crab about.

Don't knoe about your 327 but I put a 400 Ford in a JD 3020. And works good Over rev is not a problem just rember that the power is normaly just over what the tractor was made for and the low end power is much better than the 4 cyl.

But the Olivers that both the other guys are talking about have 6 cylinders in them from the factory.
