Can anyone please explain to me how the end of Oliver and Moline tractors came. I've seen a 2255 Oliver that was painted green but was badged as a White. I've also operated a G1355 which is a MM tractor, but it was green and badged an Oliver with a White plate at the top of the grill. Why did they overlap these models and when was the first year for the first Whites with the gray sheetmetal. Did they ever make any Olivers with the White style cabs?

If you operated a G-1355 you must have noticed the Oliver differential. That is how the G-955 and G-1355 came to be the last two years of the Oliver and MM names. Than they were the White 2-135 and 2-150. I know there seems to be a disagreement on the 2-135. Some say it had Perkins motor in it. I have seen the 2-135 with the MM motor in it. They were workhorses for sure.

2-135 and 2-155 were completely different from the 2-150. 135/155 had inboard planetarys, and a common sump trans/hydraulic with a charge pump for the hydraulics and MANY other differences. The 2-150 only had the small over/under, only the very early 2-135 had it, the later 135"s and all 2-155 had the larger one.

Oh Boy! This a tough one. May I add without the proof some may desire, there was a period of time when White tractor advertised and offered their tractor product, perhaps to stimulate sales, in any color of the four badges that had been combined under the one White name.
Green=Oliver, Yellow=M-M, Red=Cockshutt, and Metalic gray=White. The advertisments were published in a variety of Ag magazines.

The badgeing of the tractors I think they did to try and get some brand loyalty inplace before they totally went to the WHITE name plate. I think the company had some ISSUE's in Management at the time.

and we have sales litturature for 1972 1855's with what they call a "WESTERN" cab.. its the white cab now that was not the Std. Cab

Don't have an answer to most of your questions, but can help with one. My friend owns a 2255 Oliver with CatV8 diesel and it has a White tractor cab on it. Can't tell for sure but it looks like it came from factory that way.

It most likely did come that way we have a 1955 with a white factory R.O.P.S. cab that came from the factory that way it is the last year for a 1955 and it was built in 1974 it is true to oliver in that it is oliver colors and the only place it says white is on the back of the cab but from what i understand white had taken over before this tractor was built
