Hello this is a 51 77 rc stock pulling tractor I rebuilt head new valves and guides. cylinders very low wear, rings pistons bearing all in great shape. Compression test each cylinder it put out 125 to 130 lbs in each cylinder. It really runs great. Electronic ignition, 12volt conversion, rebuilt carb. new clutch. I normally place top three in 4500 stock classes with in 75 miles from me. I pulled it in altered stock one time and placed 9 out of 20 which is good but I had the weight set exactly right and it ran out of power in 2nd. I normally always pull in second. HOW COULD I GET MORE POWER??? Or should I try pulling in first would it hurt the distances or help. thanks for the help.

Also timing is dead on where IT manual says its supposed to be. Maybe I can advance that a little. My rpms are set right at stock 1600 I'm allowed a little over would that help. Any help would be appreciated.

if you don't have a speed limit. go for all the rpm's the rules allow, it gives you more ground speed. the super 77 has a larger intake manifold and carb. i think our last stock 77 would hit around 43hp on the dyno.

depending on witch ring & pinion you have & tire size. at 20% over you should be close to 3.5 in 1st. if you have enough power to do it, i prefer 2nd. gear and drive it. if the track will allow it.

I'm running 12.4-38's at 6psi no weight in rear unless track is wet. With a mid to dry track I can't keep the front down where I want it. Thats pulling in second gear. On wet tracks Second gear works great. Only one time this last year I had the weight, pressure and gear prefect for the track and did good but 20 some feet short on the winner out of 22 tractors because I ran out of power in second. not sure maybe first would have done better. ? thanks

Unless you want tear the engine down again, it will be hard to get more power, except the carb and manifold. I dont claim to know it all, but in my experiences if you don"t have the power to spin in the class your in I would try 1st gear. Been pulling for several years in stock classes and won numerous times and point titles in 1st gear.
