I found it; If you have 1700 PSI on the pump you need to fix the heat problem before you loose that. What are you trying to lift to start with, how much does it cycle, and if you have a dirt /check valve problem it is not the external one. Now I need more details before we play a guessing game. How about an e-mail address or a phone number.

It cycles with any implement. I can stand on the drawbar and make it do it. My mowing machine weighs about 450 lbs. When I hook to it cold it cycles about every four to five seconds, the hotter it gets, the quicker it cycles; Finally it makes a sound like it's bypassing. I replaced all the O-rings on the check valve body and piston bore when I had the hydralic housing off. I had trouble getting my external valve to give me a P.S.I. reading, it seemed like I had to wiggle it back and forth before I could get my gauge to read anything.

The external valve has nothing to do with the unit cycling. send me an e-mail address or a phone number.

YES SIR I HAVE A I&T MANUAL BUT NOT A GOOD OLIVER MANUAL. DO YOU RECALL HOW THE GOOD MANUAL SAYS TO PERFORM THE TEST? COULD THE EXTERNAL VALVE CAUSE A PROBLEM LIKE I HAVE? THANKS.

Do you have a small press? Do you have a shop manual? When you chang the O-rings the thing to do is follow the procedure in the shop manual and check for leakage. If it cycles with you on the hitch and that often you have a major INTERNAL leak.

I dont have an external valve on mine but I do know that clean filters and lack of air locks are a real help. Do you have any manuals?

What a way to ask a question! Are you asking because your tractor does not have hydraulics or what are you trying to determine here? How about being a little more specific here not that I know much but it might help others.
