I'm putting a all season cab on my 1966 oliver 1850. It has a gas 310 with Hydra-power. Where do I tap into the cooling system to run to the heater core without affecting flow to the Hydra-power cooler? Pictures always help.

On our 1850 gas we hooked the pressure line to the block drain on the right rear side. We also installed a quarter turn valve in this line to completely shut it off in the summer. The return line is hooked in just above the thermostat where the hydra power line returns. This has worked fine for us for many years.

I looked at the the block drain on the right side of the engine but it's only 1/4 " NPT. That seems to small of a heater. Then I looked at the left side of the engine and I see A 1/2" NPT pipe plug near the back of the block, Could I use this port?

I think I'd put it in the line from the block to the Hydra-Power as this will give the most heat to the heater and the coolant will be just a bit cooler through the Hydra-Power. Thats how my 1800 gas was set up before I removed it.
