Just got home a Super 88 that has longer rear axles than i have ever seen. They measure 9 ft. overall. The tire size is 14.9-38 on the rear. It has a wide front with a diesel engine. Just looking for any info on this tractor. Thanks for any help! TT

I almost think if I remember correctly there were two options for longer axles. We had a farmer that had one and it was for sugar beets. They mounted a Marbeet harvestor on the tractor. They traded the 88 in on a 1600 with longer axles. They used the 1600 to cultivate with also and instead of moving the wheels in for narrow rows they moved the wheels out and straddled 4- 28 inch rows where everyone else set them in and straddled two 28 or 30 inch rows. Both those tractors had wide fronts. There was an Oliver 60 in a junk yard near here that also had extra long axles so Oliver had this option available for some time. That 60 also had 36 inch wheels instead of the normal 32 inch.

Yes the long rear axles were an option for these tractors. They were normaly ordered in the areas where sugar beets were grown in 22" rows. They wanted to stradle four rows, thus need a 88" rear tread. Your tractor is somewhat unusual in that most had a singel front wheel to get between the 22" rows.
