Iam looking at two a 1961 1964 the 61 is being rebuilt the 64 is not I would like to more about this tractor are they good tractor are parts and equipment still around I DO NOT own one and this would be my first

The 61 must be the checkerboard style and would not have the option of Hydra-Power Drive, Oliver's power shift transmission. The 64 may be equipped with this. There will be a decal on the sideshields indicating if it is. Engines varied. This is from memory but I believe the only diesel used in production was the 265 cu. in. They were rugged diesels, best at the time. The 61 gas was a 231 cu. in. The 64 should have the 265 cu. in. gas=more power. Either way, the 1600 is a great tractor. They had no major problems. Isolated incidences always occur no matter what tractor you have but the 1600 had no major widespread mechanical problems. Bottom line: great engines, great transmissions, good looks (I prefer the 64 styling to the 61 but that's up to you), and yes, parts are readily available at your AGCO WHITE dealer and through various salvage yards. You can find your nearest White dealer at www.agcocorp.com and select the White tractor product line and select locate a dealer. Go for it!

An amendment to my previous post. The latter 1600s, after 1963, were equipped with 248 cu. in. gasoline engines. The 265 gas came later in the 1650s of 1965-1969.
