I think somewhere in another post I though he had a 770 industrial. So his shifting box is a revers-o-torque. Now 10W-30. How many 770 tractors have you worked on? We had 50 plus of them around there and when we went away from the 10W-30 in the transmission our transmission problems went away. He also did not say what engine he has. If he has a diesel I would pick something else. Also remember reprinted operators manuals do reflect any changes made in fluid recommendations. That is why they sent dealers bulletins with the latestup dates. My 2 cents worth.

Yes,you are correct. He may have diesel or reverse-O-torque. 10W-30W is good for the Gas engine, and recommended in owners manual for the power booster drive. I've had no problems what so ever. Do you have any other suggestions for power booster drive?

The power booster is lubricated with transmission oil. When the 770 & 880 were introduced 10W-30 was the recommended fluid to use because of the sprag cluth in the Power Booster. You also needed to add the 102 028 or 82a additive (going by memory and it has been 45 years). After a few years they went to 80-90 gear oil. It also carried a warning with it saying in real cold weather you COULd have problems with the sprag clutch not engaging. Around here when the weather was that cold nobody was outside farming. Operators manual at the end of 770 production may have mentioned that. I don't remember. Oliver from time to time as tehnoligy with lubricants changed would send charts to the dealers to inform them of the latest filters and lubricant to use in tractors. I hope this helps.
