NOW, my loggers-sometimes-mechanics have gotten bitten by the tractor bug, and have been buying lots of tractor "projects" of their own.

The latest one is a mystery and they want me to find out about it. It is supposed to be a COCKSHUT ... but, has no brand name on it ... just a big "300" on the radiator. Over the years, different companies made the Cockshutt, Oliver, and Co-op tractors ... so far, we haven"t found out where to look for the serial number.

Follow the link below to see the work they"re doing on my tractor.

Lois,

It is a COCKSHUTT "30" tractor. It is one of over 37,000 built by COCKSHUTT in Brantford, Ontario Canada from 1946 thru 1956. This tractor was also marketed in western Canada and the USA as a Co-op E3. On a smaller scale, it was also marketed in the upper midwest USA as a Gambles Farmcrest '30'.

THIS IS LOIS AGAIN ... thanks for the info that I passed along to them. They didn"t have time to check anymore for the serial number... but here are a few more clues. They did see, in the radiator grill, kinda hard to see, "Co-op". The "300" is on both sides right next to the grill. They were told, when they bought it, that "there were only three made like this" ... and that "the army used this tractor during World War 11 in Guam". Yes, it is a gas model. It runs smoothly, just banged up a bit.

The Cockshutt 30 was also sold in the states as the Co-op E3.

Lois,

I'd say it's a Cockshutt 30 by the picture. Nice website - I'm from IN but we have a summer cabin outside of Iron River not too far from you!

Since it looks like it has a distributor it is a gas model. It is a Cockshutt. The serial number should be stamped in the frame in the area of the distributor. There should also be a tag on the engine. If it a 4 cylinder it is a model 30 if a six cylinder it is a model 40 or 50. Need more details.
