Parts are available from reputable auto part stores. Go to NAPA and start pricing pieces. Main and connecting rod bearings are available, but pricey. Make your machine shop check the availability of bearings BEFORE they take too much off. Pistons are available in a large overbore.

It sounds like I need to start dissassembly and go shopping for new parts with old in hand . Is this pretty much the case?

Yes. Unlike rebuilding a small block Ford or Chevy, there are no "kits" available, just individual pieces. When rebuilding this engine, you almost want to sleep with your machinist. Just kidding, of course.....
