I"m looking at a 2255 that"s in really good shape. Needs a little A/C work and that"s about it. I really like this size and how it will thunder down the field pulling hard with that Cat. Are they usually around $9,000 to get one? How reliable is the Cat engine? Is it always a 3150 or were there other engines that were better or worse? Thanks for the help.

The later ones had 3208 Cats in them. the engine is reliable. 9K seems a little on the high side.
Is the tractor you are loooking at in Indiana?

Yes it"s in southern IN I believe. Never seen it in person, just pictures. Maybe it"s an older model since it has the other engine. Have you seen this one? I believe the price is in the high $9,000"s. Thanks.

I just bought one with a 3150 in Iowa for $7500.00
Cab, duals, air was all there but did not work.
I believe a friend of mine showed me some pictures of the one you are talking about. Doesn't look bad.

I live in S. Indiana. I believe my father had one of the few 2255's around. Sold it off in mid eighties. We took the cab off and put fender fuel tanks on ours. AC never worked very well and the cab was hard to see out of (hardhands complained). Well, the hardhand got his wish but had to wear ear muffs to block out the engine noise pulling the 6 - 18" plow in our clay hills. I remember the tractor being nice to drive because it was short coupled for a tractor that size. We turned the HP up on her too - she'd ride wheelies up the hills and the stack would glow red. It cost us later though - the rear end went out and it cost a bundle to replace. Back then that's what every body did around here - no matter what the brand - turn them up too much.

I have alot of fun with the 2255's. I have one that I take to the pulls. Does very good in the 11K and the 13K class. I also have been pulling a Super 88 and a Super 99. I like the Olivers that sound a little different!!
