I am completely new to the world of breathing new life into old iron. I want to restore an old Cockshutt 30 that a friend has setting in his field. My grandpa farmed with a Cockshutt and they have always been my favorite tractor.

My question is, that the decals on the side say "Cockshutt 30" but down the front of the grill, in raised letters, it says "Co Op". Now what exactly do I have here a straight Cockshutt, a Cockshutt Co Op model, or a straight Co Op? I hope this is not too dumb of a question!!! Thanks for the help!!

If the tractor is a early model,1946,47,48 or 49
the first # in the serial # will be the year. Some of the co-op models were repainted Cockshutt red and yellow because the orange color wasn't very popular
and the Co-op nose strip was left on tractor.

Hi, They are one in the same. The difference is in the decals and the nose strip plate. A Cockshutt nose strip is available. I think that all model 30"s after 1952 should be Cockshutt only. The Co-op was ended at that time. To get the year check the top of the left frame side. This number should start with 30-###### if you find and post it we can tell you what year you have. This number is beside the engine and stamped into the steel. Hope this helps
