Hydraulic Overheating

The hydraulics on my White 2-105 overheat when running anything with a hydraulic motor or if they are hooked up to an auxilary open center valve. I think it is because the pump would be pumping steady. Is this the case? If so what can be done? If not what might be the problem?

White put out a service bulletin once on selecting hydraulic motors for open and closed center hydraulic systems. It might be interesting to know the model of the hydraulic motor you are using. depending on how you plumbed the auxilary valve you might just be circulating oil and on a closed center system that is a definate No-No! Questions? I will try to help you better when I get back to USA at the end of this week. Remember heat is one of the four major killers of a hydraulic system. Also any hydraulic energy not used for work becomes heat. Later

With the closed center hydraulic system on a 105 white it is important that the return line go directly back to the hydraulic resevoir. This is accomplished by removing the pipe plug that is just to the left(looking at it from behind) of the top link bracket and slightly below and then installing a female hyd coupler. Connect your pressure line into the remote outlet and return line to this coupler. Also there is a resticter valve on the right side(once again looking from behind)between the remote valves and the main housing. This controls the flow of oil out of the tractor. I like to turn this in until i have just enough oil to operate the hyd motor and my remote lever will stay in detent. to much flow and tying levers back will cause oil to bypass and excessive heating. I'm not sure the effect of using an open center auxillary valve. Alot of times these valves can be converted to closed center by installing a plug.
