We had a pull about a week ago at the county fair, and I got the old 88 out of the barn after about 4 months of not pulling it. I have never had a problem pulling the tractor and running out of horsepower. The tractor itself would dyno at 65 horsepower strong and hold it very well. I pulled in the 6500 pound class, and the motor sounded good, but when it got down towards the end, it fell pretty short on power quick, and the motor sounded like a pinging noise. It had gas in it for the 4 months, and all I did was add some more 87 octane to it. It didn't sound like a rod was loose or anything. Could this loss of power, and pinging noise come from old gas or could my timing be a little tight and be causing preignition when pulled down to a heavy load? Thanks for any input guys!!

its probably the bad gas, which you could adjust the timing to burn properly but id just run the old gas out on a sunday drive then fill her up with good gas and put back to work,if you still have the ping then you will need to check out the timing or maybe something is wrong with the advance in the dist.
