Heres the deal. I have an old HG crawler that had a continetal engine in it. Well I found an engine from an Oliver 60 that runs very good and from what I was told was rebuilt and then not used. So I'm putting it in the Hg but it looks like it maybe fun to hook the engine to the tranny. Anybody have any good ideas that will not cost an arm and leg to do??
Any idea from sane to crazy is what I'm looking for.
Thanks

I have seem it done but its not pretty. The problem lies in the fact that the motor does not go down in the frame far enough and so that leaves a short drive shaft on a steep angle. Most repowers in the HG type tractor move the engine ahead to reduce the angle of the shaft otherwise you will find that with any heavy work you will be twisting off "U" joints on a regular basis. Note; the engine in the HG is a herculese IXB3 and so getting parts from a Walkashaw will not help.

Well so far I have found that the 60 engine will almost drop out the bottom of the frame. So I should be able to line up the drive shaft but may need to add a pillow block bearing in it to help keep things from shakeing things apart.
Thanks

I'm not familiar w/ either one, but weren't there some crawlers powered by Oliver/Waukesha's? How hard would it be to get a bell housing from one of those if they do exist? Otherwise, you may have to make your own adapter plate out of some 3/16" or so plate.
