Trying to figgure this out. It's listed as an Oliver 88, but it's painted alot like an 880, and I've never seen one with a checkerboard grill like that. Those grills I thought were only used on later 50 and 55 series Oliver, but this one looks like it might be factory?. The front end isn't like an 88 at all, I thought they all had a raised 88 on the front the front casting?.

I am not that familar with Oliver and just checked the ad. He does say the tractor is an 88 with 880 tinwork but my question is did the 88-880 ever have power adjust rear wheels, I thought that they all slid on the axle to adjust wheel tread.

The 880 could be had with or without "powerjust" wheels. One of our 880's has them & the other doesn't.The tractor looks pretty Heinz 57-ish!! ~brad

I wondered about that too. Would make me wonder what all was on that machine.

it sure looks like they put 770 sheet metal on there, and decaled it up with the 880 decals. Whats the sickest part is that he is getting fairly good money for that unit, and who knows what your exactly getting there.

It's made up with 77/88, Super 77/88, 770, and 880 parts.

It's a shame what some people will do to a tractor.

The later 770's and 880's had the "checkerboard) grill- and square top fenders. From there it was just a hop, skip and a jump to their successors- 1550 and 1650.

No 880 tractors had flat top fenders or checkerboard grills from the factory!

My uncle has an 880 and the grill looks just like this one. It is made of fiberglass and as far as I know, it is original.

that is an 880 with what looks like to be an 88 or 77 rear end 770 and 880 had bigger rear ends on them.

What if this tractor was used in pulls? Would it be decided by the engine number?
