Diesel in the oil again!

I was using my 1800 yesterday and figured I better check the oil again to se if there was any diesel left in it. I had gotten alot in it a few months ago and put a new fuel transfer pump on and had the injection pump ebuilt and put back on. Checked yesterday and it has probably a gallon in it again now.

Talked to an older AC mechanic and he said that the seals from the pump to the engine on a shaft were probably not put in right or got messed up. Could it be possible that an injector is messed up and causing this also? It doesn't smoke or anything but just doesn' "sound" like I think it should wih a kinda miss in it. I Am going to have the injectors rebuilt or at least cleaned good as I plan on keeping and using this one.

Thanks!

Did your pump rebuilder replace the pilot tube in the case? This is the tube the drive shaft and seals run through. If they did not replace the tube chances are pretty good this is where your fuel is getting through. The old seals usually wear deep grooves around the inside of the tube and the new seals will not hold either.

I think so but will check it today. I had another man take it off to put the seal in but he said that there were grooves in there so has it rebuilt. I would assume by that they did but I know what assume means also. Hopefully it is just the seal but if it is that tube someone else is gonna pay for it ! :)

if you have a gallon i would check yor pump to have that much fuel and it runs good without smoke is not a injector. pul your oil pan and look to see wear the fuel is running down the block.

Nope, it's the seal behind the injector pump,
I'm sure of that, not a big deal but it has to be
replaced, Take it back to where thy worked on it and I'm sure they will fix it.

I got a man coming out Monday who is supposed to help me check that seal. The place that rebuilt the pump is reputable and does good work but now the guy who took the pump off and reinstalled it... Anyway, the man coming tomorrow was a A-C mechanic for probably 3-45 yrs and knows the pumps so if it is the seal he should be able to tell.

It sounds kinda like it is missing at mid to hig RPM but again, no smoke white or black when running but I was told that I might have to replace or rebuild an injector when I got it. Figure I will take them and get them at least cleaned anyway as I plan on using this tractor some.

However, if the seal is not the culprit I will be taking the exhaust manifold off and checking he injectors next. Here's hoping it is a seal.... :)

Sure: Take the exhaust manifold off and see if you get black or white smoke out of one exhaust port. Take that injector out and switch it with a cylinder that does not smoke. If the smoke stays with the injector that is your problem. If it does not change the problem is internal in the engine. Questions?

the last time my 1755 acted up like that I skipped checking the injector (dummy me already replaced a couple and knew another 1 or 2 were getting weak). Put in new injectors...same problem... found the valves where out of adjustment and holding a cylinder open. Didn't smoke a lot, but sure dumped the fuel into the oil

Like I said if it stays with the cylinder it is an internal problem in other words a compression problem.
