I am asking this for a friend, and I hope this is the right place. If not, is there a seperate forum for combine questions?

anyway, he looked at a Oliver 535 Combine that will be coming up on Auction. He knows it is old, but it was owned by some older gentlmen, and it looks like it was only used twice or so, and then parked in the shed up til now.

I guess he would like to know if there any particular 'gotchas" to watch out for, and he also heard that you could interchange the head mechanism with a Oliver 7300. Anyone know if there are many 7300 parts, or heads around? He is located in south central Nebraska.

thanks in advnace for any advice you can give.

The seperating parts shakers, sieves, etc. are the same. The very early 7300 had the same final drives, but the later ones had heavier ones, that goes for the variable speed drive as well. 535 and 7300 share throat width, but 535"s had the feeder housing as part of the head, the 7300"s it was integral with the combine and made for quick attach heads. 535"s were a good machine, and if it"s in good shape should work well for him.
