Just keep it stock and pull for fun. Just tune it up like kwf said. I pull a stock 770 periodically but only for fun. I do win part of the pulls against some modified tractors. Horsepower isn't everything in a pull, just part of the equation. If you stay close to stock you can still go home and use the tractor tomorrow without fixing it. I was just at an Oliver show over the weekend and about 90 percent of the tractors were modified for pulling and no one pulled one stock. Not to be hypocritical but a mostly stock IH out pulled them in the classes it was in. When they spun out it kept lugging just enough to pass them up. It also went back home to the farm to work the next day.

I've plowed w/ it, 4 14s in 2nd gear and it will pull till the cows come home. At night there is a steady flame and the front end will float just a little when she pulls down. It weighs 7500# the way it sits. 15.5 38s full of water and a set of plate weights in the front. The only problem is that it has the power traction hitch, but if IH fast-hitches are legal, so should the power traction. i have a friend who pulls a JD A and boy would I love to shut his mouth.

I pull with a power traction hitch and have never had anyone say anything. As long as you keep it at a set position and don't move it I don't think you will have a problem. It's an easy way to get the perfect hitch measurement.

Yes Weaver is right, there is alot more too it than horsepower. One of two things will happen when you pull, spin out or choke. Weight set up, tire pressure and hitting the track at the right place are the biggest factors.

You Probably do not need any help. I pull a stock 880 gas with 16.9 x 38 rear tires in 2nd gear in 6000-7000 ob classes and win regularly. If yours has a power booster you could pull up to 10000 lbs. Just a few small things, would be good clean high test gas, new plugs and an electronic ignition would help a little. make sure timming is set to factory specs.
