With school starting I couldn't get back to taking that bearing off until today. I put the block in the vise, put the wheel on the end of the shaft to push the bearing race, got it off enough to put on a puller. The reason I was being so cautious is that when I took that shaft out, I never had that small retainer on the bottom, but I didn't know that. What I thought was the retainer was actually the end of the shaft, The end of the shaft was even copper coloured, and I think that was because there may have been a copper retainer in there at one time and was ground down to dust. Even the block has a copper patina on it. Anyhow. It's off and when I find the time (Christmas) I can finish rebuilding the steering box. Thanks for all of the help.
