My 88 diesel is not charging. I have replaced the battery,voltage regulator and the ignition harness. The ammeter shows no charge or discharge with the system all hooked up. With the motor running and the positive side of the battery unhooked I have no volts at the B side of the regulator but I have 12+ volts at the upper terminal of the generator. The F post of the generator is hooked to the F post of the regulator and is grounded to the body of the generator at the lower mounting screw of the regulator. Does the regulator need to be polarized? Could the ammeter be bad?

If that don't work try giving it a Mastercard or Visa. If its like anything else in America it'll be charging in no time!!!!!

Problem solved!! Just polarized the regulator and took off the ground wire that was on the f terminal. Charges fine now.
