Best way to bring a 310 back to life

We have an Oliver 1955T that has sat for 6 maybe 8 years (time flies by). It got parked because it had a weak engine and a bad hydraulic oil leak. Before trying to start it, we are thinking of removing the injectors and making the engine turn over to get the lubrication going again. Maybe even put some Marvel mystery oil in each of the pistons to help prevent damage. We did this to our Ford 8N and that one came back to life without any problems. Does it make sense to do this and are we missing anything else that we should do. We are obviously going to check all fluids etc and we may end up pulling it to get the engine turning. As always, your help is appreciated.

How about putting a socket or wrench on the crank shaft pully and turn over the engine a few times by hand before pulling or cranking it over. May be better if you run into a stuck valve.

HI
I wouldn't go through all the trouble of pulling all the injectors.I've brought countless engines back to life and my experience with it is you are going to be cranking so long before you get fuel any-where that you'll have plenty of oil moving around.Just make sure when it does take off to just let it idle a little while before you open it up.But once you've let it warm up and check and fix the leaks you are going to have, then feel free to run her like she's a rental. That will loosen any stuck rings, if she has any.If shes as tired as you say she is you'll crank quite a while just to build heat and compression. If you have questions please write me at [email protected]
Thanks, :) Jerry

I can not fault you on your thinking. I would also pressurise the oil galleries with an external source. That way you know you have oil to the bearings. I would also make sure you have oil to the turbo before you fire fuel to it. Questions/ Send me an e-mail for details (I think you have you the address) as I made up a bearing leak detector which works good to supply oil. Questions?

I was under the impression that one could not pressurize the oil gallaries on a diesel like one would on a gas engine. ie take out the distributor and spin the oil pump with an extended shaft on a drill. I would like the details on this and any other help you can give me. This appears to be my labor day weekend project.

That is correct, you use an external tank an external air pressure. You do not use the engine oil pump. Send me a phone number too.
