Could someone please settle a bet I have with a friend. I say the 2255 did not come from the factory with a 3208 Cat in it. He disagrees and said they did. If they did what would the serial number break be? Also what is the cubic inch and the model of the original Cat engine. I was led to believe that it wasn't until the 180's that they put a 3208 in them.

Thanks for any help

The Cat 3208 is 636 cubic inches and usually 160 180 or 210 horse non-turboed and 250 horse turboed. I believe the 3150 is 573 cubic inches.

My 2255 has the factory engine in it. It is a 3208. My serial number is 266-786. I have been told it is the next to last 2255. I can tell you it was to be delivered overseas, but instead ended up near Toledo, OH. I certainly would love to find other models around this serial number and compare tractors as mine has some interesting features.. Marc

The dealer at Deerfield MI which is about 15-20 miles from Toledo sold one of those last 100 tractors. I know they were looking for the tractor for a long time because the White models had been out and it was Green. The dealer's name was Kellers.

I will have to look at the side panels that I took off, I think that was the dealer's name on the sticker. I took off all the tin work to get it powder coated and put on other tins to keep using the tractor. Marc

The last 2255 built with the 3150 Cat engine was serial number 248 721. 248 722 had a 3208 installed. By the way the last 100 built in 1976 were all intended for export, however not all were exported. The model 2255 also was the last model painted green in Charles City on Feb. 13, 1976.

Yes and Yes. Our 2255 has a 3208 in it. It is a mid 1974 serial 248xxx. Also bought another one in pieces. It is an early 1973 serial #237xxx and that had a 3150. Apparently between 1973 and 74 they switched from the 3150 to the 3208. They also switched the hydraulic system cooler pump from the front, to behind the hydraulic pump sometime between 73 and 74. Both of our 2255's are diffent in these two ways.

Serial #s are 1972 235598-235999 1973 237210-244214 1974 244825-252714 1975 258472-258571 1976 266683-266782

The White 2255's I believe were Canadian tractors painted like the Cockshutts were. They are rare. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Do you know if your 3208 is a replaced engine or factory installed?
