I am the one with the 1800 gas - pto issue. Well, I kept looking at how the driveshaft does not line up so I took the liberty to remove the pto unit. Lo and behold it is very obvious why the shaft came out hard initially and goes in hard - the inner cast piece (called the inner bearing support) is cracked BAD. It looks like someone has been in there before as indicated by the RTO gasket. Their is actually a piece broke out of the casting (looked on the rear end for it but it is not in there - maybe taken out in the previous disassembly)

That all being said, are my options:

1. reassemble the current unit and leave the driveshaft out ( or does that shaft also run something else)

2. try and find a replacement. This is what I would like to do but I don"t know who may have one in a boneyard or is it going to be a Kings Ransom"

What do you think?

That shaft runs the hydraulic pump as well, so you're gonna need it. There should be plenty of 1800's in bone yards so the price should be some what reasonable. I don't have the information for Wisconsin tractor parts with me, but they are a part of All States Ag Parts, I think the website is www.asapagparts.com. They should be able to help you.
