Trying to ID Oliver backhoe/loader:
maybe from '50s or '60s, 6 cyl diesel, 6 speed auto? with foot-pedal forward and reverse, 8.25x20 front tires, built like a bulldozer!

casting marks underneath on frame/pan 157-652A, and more crudely stamped 4204S

Your tractor is a 1600 Industrial. Production of 1600 tractors started in late 1962, ended in the fall of 1964. There should be a serial number for the tractor on the dash casting. Also by the generator there should be an engine serial number stamped in the front of the block by the generator. That would also help. Alsolook and see how many bolts bolt the thermostat housing to the head. There is the 3 bolt version and the 4 bolt version which is later. Questions?

The only further number I can find is on the plate that the gearshift lever runs through on top of the transmission.

That number seems to be

156792A

or it might be 150792A

Thank you very much!

It's in very good condition except the gauges and brakes don't work. Brakes are the first project.

I should think you are owed commission on service manuals, hehe.
