Hope you folks don't mind if I break into your group and ask a question.
Looking at a 550 with serial # 123109-519 and wondering if it is a '62. If so, what does the "-519" signify? I may end up with this tractor so I might be looking to join the club. ";^)

You are correct in the year, it was built in 1962. The "519" is the powertrain code, all non industrial 550's were code 519.

I have to disagree on all 550's with the exception of industrials have the 519 power train number. I have a 1964 Oliver 550 decaled as a 550 Special. The model number is 55-2103 and the serial number 149805-019. I bought the tractor in 2002 from a friend who had purchased the tractor in Canada. This is an agricultural tractor and everything was original with the exception of the front tires.

Thank you, sir. I am about to make a swap for this thing: my '44 Case SC for this non-running-but-it-shouldn't-take-much 550.
