Hi Guys
Power steering has gone out on my 1365. I pulled the pump off and replaced the seals but it still is not working. It puts out about 500psi right now. Any suggestions on diagnosing the problem?

Thanks,
Mike

Have you physically inspected every mechanical aspect of your steering system? Is your cylinder hidden under the battery or is it on the side of the engine on your model? Our 1365s cylinder is under the battery, we replaced a few worned bushings to get steering working. Make sure there is nothing loose in the linkage.

First of all is this 500 PSI with a gauge in the circuit while you are trying to turn it? Second question: When you turn the wheel does it act like you can get ahead of the pump? I am trying to determine if you have pump flow. Have you checked that? Remember flow is what moves the wheels. Pressure is how hard the hydraulic system pushes on the steering (front wheels) so to speak. I had a month old 1265 do that. It has a very fine piece f metal under the relief valve. This kept the pump from delivering full flow and full pressure. That relief valve is a cartridge assembly. If you have a manual if I remember correctly it will tell you not to take it apart. But that is not always the case. Questions?

Yes that was with putting a guage on the outlet of the casting that sits on top of the pump. It really acts like the pump is just not putting enough pressure out. It has a loader on it and if we lift the front end up you can feel it poping that valve on the cylinder. We wondered if we had the insides flipped over but tried the other way too. I was thinking of starting with a new relief valve and see if that works.

Thanks for the info.

I have no idea what a relief valve for that thing costs, but once you here the price and I am just thinking about some of the American relief valves built like that you may want to sit down and think about several things. The first one is a flow test. The second one, when you had this gauge installed was that pressure reading when the front wheels were against the stop(S)?

Certainly not an expert here... Could it have anything to do with the valve on the steering tie rod itself??? I keep losing fluid out of my resorvoir, think it may be going into my motor???? Any thought on that J? Thanks, Marc
