I have a question for any Oliver person that might have worked in road building, or any place that used motor graders.

Oliver, for a number of years (30's to the 60's), built several model E.O.A.'s (ENGINE OVER AXLE) units. They could be equiped with Oliver or International Harvester engines to power the units. I am sure that some had Cummins or Detroit Diesel engines in later years.
I am not asking about the farm tractor style of motor grader. I just want to know about a E.O.A. units.

My question is: Does anyone know what brand(s) and/or model(s) were equiped with the Oliver E.O.A.?

If anyone knows any answer to the above question, do you know which model of transmission was used?

Thank you in advance for any information.

Well I know a Galion 303 grader has an Oliver tranny in it. Also the one I have has the IH engine, the same as a 560 tractor. If it wheren't dark out I could get you the numbers from it. Also if you are looking for parts I know a place that may have them

I would like to know the serial number on the transmission. If the serial number plate is like the tractor plates, it will also list the model number.
It may or may not have a place to tell the spec. number. On these the spec. number was sometimes a letter in the serial number.

I do not own one, nor am I in need of parts. I am doing some research on another Oliver project, and these transmissions were used in it.

Thank you for your time in looking.

I appreciate you posting the serial number of your unit. Acording to the parts book the last update on these units was at serial #111 129, and yours is 141 949. So that tells me yours is a very late model 500.

I see where I am going to need to do a lot more research.

Thanks again for your time.

Just thinking, in the Oliver line of things that unit was built sometime in 1964

Another hint on that being a late one is if he has that 6 cylinder IH engine they were not built untill or for the 1958 model year. Find me on the other site. Chris and I were talking about a few things too.

Two road graders come to mind the Gallion and the Huber-later Huber -Warco. Also interesting you mention that. This area was known as the great black swamp. Not too long before I started working for the dealer in 1960 he sold one and maybe 2 of the EOA case to a farmr who used it to build a tiling machine that was pretty much a unit with hydraulics. I was going to his place this spring once when I was in the neighborhood and see is the machine was still around. The man was not home. We had a customer that has a Galion back in the early 60's and it had the Oliver engine (model 80) and the EOA transmission. There I think was also a later improved model 50 called the 500. Get in tough with me otherwise. I have a couple of questions for you also.

John, If it had a 80 engine, it would, more than likely, have been a 35 or 350 unit.

I will get a hold of you in the near future, but in the mean time I am going to check with two other companys, and they will not be open until monday, or later in the week.
